Plexar tie-layer resins are anhydride-modified polyolefins that bond dissimilar polymers together in multilayer structures. The functional groups within Plexar resins enable the resins to bond to a variety of polar materials including ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH), nylon, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polystyrene (PS), epoxy, polyurethane (PU), polyvinylidene chloride (PVdC), metal, paper, and other substrates while still providing excellent adhesion to polyethylene. As a result, multilayer structures can be produced with unique properties that combine key properties of various resins, such as the low oxygen permeability of EVOH, the stiffness and low moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR) of high density polyethylene (HDPE) or sealability of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA).

Plexar tie layer adhesives are manufactured by LyondellBasell and marketed in the U.S. and Canada by MSI Technology. Technical information for Plexar is available by clicking here.

SPS™ Peelable Sealants are designed for formulating peelable sealants. Sealants made using SPS products can be processed on conventional blown and cast film extrusion and coextrusion equipment. The distinguishing feature of SPS Peelable Sealants is their ability to yield sealants with easy peel characteristics when heat-sealed to itself. Products are available for polyethylene and ethylene copolymer-based sealant systems.

General-purpose peelable sealant
Cereal bag liners
Snack food structures
Medical and pharmaceutical packaging

Low heat-seal initiation temperature
Ability to adjust heat-seal strength
No aging effects.
Cohesive failure.
Clean, smooth peel seals (not stringy).
Flat heat-seal strength profile.
Broad heat-seal temperature range.
Peel seals when opened.
Suitable for most direct food contact applications.

Speci PurgeTM is a ready to use purge compound that is specifically designed to purge polyamides, ethylene-vinyl alcohol (EVOH) copolymers, polyesters, and polyolefin materials.

Speci Purge with its triple action formula lowers the melt viscosity of the resin to be purged, has a non-abrasive scrubbing action, and a foaming mechanism that facilitates the cleaning of hard to reach areas in your equiptement.

Speci Purge is efficient for resin changes, color changes, and preventative maintenance.

Speci Purge is easy to use and is effective at the resident resin processing temperature and screw speed.
